Next Meet - Sign-up + DQs + Need Volunteers
Hello Gators!
As a reminder, please remember to sign-up by Friday if you intend on going to the first away meet with the Post Oak Dolphins. This will be a little bit of a tougher meet, so we need all hands on deck!
Please come to as many practices as possible so you get yourself stronger as a swimmer and better your forms. We had many DQs in breaststroke in our last meet, so the coaches have been focused on coaching good form this week.
Tips: Remind your swimmer(s) to not scissor/flutter kick in breaststroke - they must look like frogs and keep their legs and feet going at the same time and glide. Plus, their hands should not go past their chest when they pull under the water. If their hands go by the hips or past the hips, that will end up in a DQ. Doing a scissor/flutter kick will also end up in a DQ. It's a tough stroke to get right but encourage your swimmer(s) on how to do it correctly by showing them videos at home to reinforce what they learn at practice. We don't want anyone getting DQ'd!
Also, we are in DIRE need for volunteers for this next meet. The last 2 meets we should be in good standing - THANK YOU!! - but this next meet away needs some more help. Again, if you've been an "as needed" volunteer for these past 2 meets and have not had a job as of yet, please consider a position for this meet - or see Katie Russo at the volunteer table to see how you can best help.
More information to come for the next meet as soon as I hear from their coordinator. All I have is their address: 2515 Tritt Springs Trace Northeast, Marietta, GA 30062. I am assuming based on the Google map overview that they will have their parking lot closed off like how we do, so parking will be along the small street that the pool is on, plus across Post Oak Tritt Road. If you plan to bring a tent, try to arrive early to set up and find a good parking spot. Be prepared to bring a cart if you have one in case you need to haul your tent and chairs. Do consider teaming up with friends and share tent space to save space in general if you can.
Any additional information I can give I will as soon as I hear from them!
Thank you!!
